UMCOR: Shhhh Don’t tell anyone we’re Christians

An excellent point by UMAction:

Methodist News – Institute on Religion and Democracy
“Muslim Aid is very open about the faith that motivates its relief and development work. UMCOR, in contrast, is largely silent about Jesus Christ and the Bible. No wonder there is such easy agreement between them.”
—Mark Tooley, IRD’s Director of UMAction

Come on UMCOR, use my donations to update your website to give praise to Almighty God who empowers us, through His Spirit and by the grace offered through Jesus Christ, to reach out in love to those who suffer and are less fortunate than ourselves; in the hope that God would be praised and Christ be made known throughout the world to the Glory of God.

Loving People Means Pointing Them to the
All-Satisfying God

Now back to what it means to be loved. The idea has been almost totally distorted. Love has to do with showing a dying soul the life-giving beauty of the glory of God, especially his grace. Yes, as we will see, we show God’s glory in a hundred practical ways that include care about food and clothes and shelter and health. That’s what Jesus meant when he said, “Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).

Every good work should be a revelation of the glory of God. What makes the good deed an act of love is not the raw act, but the passion and the sacrifice to make God himself known as glorious. Not to aim to show God is not to love, because God is what we need most deeply. And to have all else without him is to perish in the end. The Bible says that you can give away all that you have and deliver your body to be burned and have not love (1 Corinthians 13:3). If you don’t point people to God for everlasting joy, you don’t love. You waste your life.

Luke 9:26:  For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father’s, and of the holy angels.

Luke 12:8-9:  Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:  (9)  But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.

2 Timothy 2:12:  If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:

1 John 2:23:  Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: but he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

2 Peter 2:1:  But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

It’s about the love?

“I hope your plan(e) has the chance to crash and burn.”

Eric at showyourgaypride.com giving us another fine example of tolerance (warning: link goes to pro homosexual site) and reacting to news that Family Policy Network is going to fly an airplane banner over the San Diego Pride event. What apparently pushed Eric to hypocritically hope for an aircraft accident? What else but a nice clear call to repentance and faith:

FPN President Joe Glover was quoted as saying, “Homosexuality is nothing to celebrate. It has grave consequences, both physical and spiritual.”

“The hope of all who sin, including homosexuals, is the chance to turn from sin and embrace the redemption God makes available through His Son, Jesus Christ,” he added.

Well said, Joe.  It’s not about homosexuality (alone), the message of the cross is for all who sin (no matter the sin).  As you read this, please think about that.  Is there sin you need to repent of?  Then Jesus Christ is your hope too.

Ron Paul Says He’d Change “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”
While speaking to a group at Google, GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul expressed support for changing “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” citing the number of discharged linguists.

This should not come as a shock to folks… He’s very much a libertarian and at his core believes that what you do is your business. And while that may sound good on the surface, in this case it leads to an endorsement of behavior that is undoubtly dramatically life shortening*.

What should be our response? One of true love. One that doesn’t leave someone to their own fatal desires but helps them to overcome their problem, much like we do with alcoholism now. We used to shun drunks but now we try to get them help… as we should. That is the loving response and takes out the whole debate on whether you are born that way or not.

*A Canadian study published in 1997 by Oxford University’s International Journal of Epidemiology reported that “life expectancy at age 20 years for gay and bisexual men is 8 to 20 years less than for all men. If the same pattern of mortality were to continue, we estimate that nearly half of gay and bisexual men currently aged 20 years will not reach their 65th birthday.”

Trojan Horse SHeur.AFJ (false positive within Quickbooks/Quickin)

There are a growing number of reports that this is a false positive within AGV.

I’ll update you with more soon, but for now check out this excellent post on the topic (translated to English here). Complete with screen shots and search engine analysis.

Please leave a comment if you have any information to share. Unlike the AVG Forum, stupid questions will not be deleted nor the questioners abused. We were all stupid at some point so, chill-out folks.

Update: I have found AVG to do find this with multiple PCs in separate locations. It’s definitely a false positive (misreading from the AVG software). (A note to AVG users, don’t let this bother you, I’ve been using AVG for years and I think this is only the 2nd time Its found a false positive.)

Another Update: AVG will not quarantine Quickbooks files, but it will quarantine Quicken files automatically (in many cases). If you get a message that says the files were deleted you can get them out of AVG’s Virus Vault.

Update #3: I see that the folks at Quickbooks are aware of the issue and are working with AVG to repair it.
